KWLT stuff ...

Aug. 1st, 2006 | 10:04 am

The past few weeks have been fairly KWLT (Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre) heavy for me. We had our AGM (Annual General Meeting)--I am continuing into my fourth year on the board of directors.  This year I will be Technical Director/Manager for the theatre company.

Anyway there's a BBQ this Sunday at 9 Princes St., there'll be live music, a garage sale, silent auction and freshly cooked meat.  I spent a long time cutting down weeds so that it'll look nice.  Anybody who'll be in town this weekend should consider stopping by.

No heat

May. 4th, 2006 | 06:48 pm

We've shut off our furnace for the summer. This is significant in the appartment I live in, which is unnaturally cool summer and winter. Perhaps I'll be able to get out of bed in the morning again ... perhaps not.

More poetry soon (i'm sure you don't care but if I don't keep practicing, how am I ever going to get less mediocre in my efforts??).

Shake Yo' Behind

Jan. 18th, 2006 | 02:28 pm

Once again I'm playing in the Fass band. Primarily guitar this year (one song on bass). In celebration of Fass, I've decided to include a link to the lyrics to Shake Yo' Behind, a song I wrote (with help from Rob L.) for Fass 2000.   An important note: the part of "The DJ" was played by one Mister Steven Stuart.

Edna St. Vincent Millay

Dec. 19th, 2005 | 06:17 pm

While poking around CBC radio's website, looking for back episodes of the the show "Ideas" to download I stumbled on a quote:

My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light.

Edna St. Vincent Millay, "A Few Figs from Thistles", 1920
US poet (1892 - 1950)

I've decided that I like Edna and her poetry.  Usually I am not a big fan of poetry. Perhaps my tastes are getting more diverse.

here's some free, good reading ...

Zombie walk ....

Oct. 22nd, 2005 | 08:27 pm
music: Catherine Wheel ("eat my dust you insensitve fuck")

In celebration of the Toronto Zombie Walk, I watched Land Of the Dead with Miss Hagen who was in from out of town. Of course she's been gone for two weeks, and during the two weeks that she's been gone I've seen her more then I would have had she staid in town.

I'm considering actually going to Toronto by bus tomorrow to participate.  If I don't go I'm going to hold my own Uptown Waterloo Zombie Walk; which will involve me shambling zombie-like from my house to the Gelato store and back (Sunday October 23 at 2 pm).

Maybe if I get the right type of gelato, it'll look like brains--as a member of the walking dead that will make me happy.  Unfortunately I don't have any Zombie make-up so I might just wear some old clothes and walk stiffly down king st.

Because it was demanded ...

Oct. 20th, 2005 | 12:50 am

I am adding content.
Reasons:

  1. because some people complained;
  2. so that if anyone follows the links from my posts on the INFP LJ, they think I'm less of a crazed lurker.
So I generated content:

Quiz 1)
Title: How Is Your Inner Child?
Answer/score: happy
Commentary: results are as expected
Learnings: none really

Your Inner Child Is Happy

You see life as simple, and simple is a very good thing.
You're cheerful and upbeat, taking everything as it comes.
And you decide not to worry, even when things look bad.
You figure there's just so many great things to look forward to.

Quiz 2)
Title: How Extroverted Are You?
Answer/score: not very extroverted -- mixed results, see below
Commentary: results are close to what I expected. I think that I might have scored lower based on my mood and the situation (at night alone, on a computer). Also I believe that--even though I am not very approachable--I am a fairly friendly mo-fo, so I see the "Friendliness: Low" part of the results being a bit low.
Learnings: I need make a conscious effort to be more active. This isn't really a new learning just reinforcing something I already new.

Your Extroversion Profile:

Cheerfulness: Very High
Sociability: Medium
Assertiveness: Low
Excitement Seeking: Low
Friendliness: Low
Activity Level: Very Low

Quiz 3)
Title: What Pattern Is Your Brain?
Answer/score: see picture below
Commentary: strangely accurate
Learnings: people are more willing to accept flattering assessments of themselves as being accurate, and also to view accurate assessments as being flattering (based on their own self esteem of course).

Your Brain's Pattern

Your brain is always looking for the connections in life.
You always amaze your friends by figuring out things first.
You're also good at connecting people - and often play match maker.
You see the world in fluid, flexible terms. Nothing is black or white.

Quiz 4)
Title:How Weird Are You?
Answer/score: 40% Weird
Commentary: simple results, vague results easy to identify with
Learnings: none

You Are 40% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too damn weird to do anything about it!

Quiz 5)
Title: Kissing Purity Test
Answer/score: 17% Pure
Commentary: hmmm ... again, simple test with vague results. Test is to easily swayed by a few isolated events. An adventurous game of spin the bottle, or truth or dare could lose you most of the points on the test.
Learnings: Any results are cooler with rhyming: "For you, it's all kiss and no talk. You're in a permanent lip lock". I feel that those could make some funky ass lyrics.

Your Kissing Purity Score: 17% Pure

For you, it's all kiss and no talk.
You're in a permanent lip lock.

Quiz 6)
Title: What is Your World View?
Answer/score: compound, see below. Cultural Creative ranked first at 81%
Commentary: Dan has often mused that I was "postmodern", so I believe that he wouldn't be surprised at that ranking high. I'm not very surprised to find that I scored high but not too high on several world views, this seems in line with my aversion to taking to strong a stand on anything.
Learnings: none

You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

Internet blogging activate ...

Aug. 30th, 2005 | 09:40 pm
mood: complacent
music: Eminem's latest.

I decided to start a blog or live journal a few weeks ago. I still haven't decided if I'm going to use this site or Blogger (I am a google fan), but either way I figured I would reserve my perfered internet pseudonym: dustinw (I am one wacky sum-a-bitch, ain't I? All usin' my first name and initial and all).

Anywho .... that's that start (or not). Either way I'll be using this site to collect up summaries of my friends who are on LiveJournal.
